Valentines from a Kid Who Kinda Hates Valentines

Harry is not into Valentines. And this year, he must bring one in to each student in his class, but he’s really not feeling it. In his defense, he’s just starting to understand the differences between boys and girls, and he really doesn’t know what to do with this information yet. So mainly he wishes everyone would just shut up and play football or something. At least.

But he has to do it, so we looked for pre-printed Valentines packs. They all included pre-printed messages he didn’t want to give. Things like, ‘You are great.’ Or ‘I like you.’ Or ‘Hi, It’s Valentines Day.’

He wanted to give something that included no message or information whatsoever. So he came up with the idea to make bookmarks.

And give pirate eyepatch things. Because, valentines are less valentiney if they involve eye patches, probably.

And straws.

So we went to the dollar store and got some things.

Then he made bookmarks. I did convince him to put his name on it so they’d know from whom this came.

They’re pretty cool actually. Simple. But cool.

Then we put all the random in delivery bags. And they will be delivered on Thursday. And possibly he will survive. I’ll keep you posted.

Not sure why I’m finally sharing this… My son is also a Harry. And I see he has Harriet in his class… As does my harry. Ok.
And now, I’m thinking I’m a big dork.

Rachel, that’s not dorky. We don’t run into that many Harry’s. And Harriet has been in his class every year…. he always calls her Harry-ette. Like Smurfette. She does not like this.

Genius! “No message or information whatsoever.” Archie is like this. He wanted just a picture of Elmo. “No words! No words! Just Elmo. Happy Elmo Day.” He’s 3. VERY 3.

PS: As someone who got called Betsy Wetsy, Harriet has it pretty good.

Sorry I’m a little late to this party, but OMG…those eye patches! Love them! Where oh where did you get them….just at the dollar store? Also, is he just wearing two of the eye patches or are there also matching sunglasses?

Anyway, cool ideas and happy V~day, even if I’m a little late!
