So here’s what.
I’m working on a list of things I want to do this year. Things I want to accomplish. Things I want to experience. You get the gist. And I want to be very intentional (or as intentional as possible) as I do this.
So last week, as I was thinking about this next year, I kept scribbling “whole living,” “living whole,” “a whole life,” things like that, on a piece of paper next to my computer. Then I wrote “A Year of Whole Living” on another piece of paper, and started making my list. I’m still working on it. And I think I will continue to do so over the next week or two.
But. Then. Something weird happened.
I received an email out of the blue from a woman I respect who offered me a number of free subscriptions to Whole Living magazine, a health & lifestyle magazine from the publishers of Martha Stewart Living. So I have 24 (24!) of these bad boys to give away. But more importantly, do you see what’s happening here? I was offered a bunch of year-long subscriptions to Whole Living. In other words “A Year of Whole Living.”
Universe, you are officially freaking me out.
So this is what I’m going to do.
I never do giveaways. But right here, right now, I’m giving away 24 one-year subscriptions to Whole Living magazine plus 24 Whole Living Totes. Party. Just leave a comment telling me an item on your dreamy life to-do list this year, and you’re registered to win. I’ll pick 24 people at random with randomizer. You have until Friday, May 13th. And seriously dude, I hope you win.
*If you’ve never seen it/never read it, Whole Living is about living a sustainable lifestyle. Green stuff, stylish life stuff, healthy recipes, holistic beauty techniques, natural remedies for sleep and stress. Etc.) Exactly. What we talk about here. Check it out: www.wholeliving.com. And if you want to give this to someone (I just bought subscriptions for myself, my mom, my mother-in-law, my sister, and my sisters-in-law), you can get 10 issues for $10 at www.wholeliving.com/discount. It’s an easy gift. Happy Mother’s Day, family! (Also, you family members mentioned above won’t win this comment contest thing because I already bought these for you and they’re coming in the mail. You’re welcome in advance.)
**Also. This is not a sponsored thing/contest/post/dance at all. I’m being paid nothing to do this. I just thought the kismet was too irresistible to resit. And I love Martha. And I want you to win one of these magazines. Because that’s fun.

Congrats, all! And here’s to Whole Living!

I’d like to lose these last 10 pounds and regain some balance in my life by being a bit more organized and having the right priorities. It’s hard being a stay at home/work at home mom!
My goal is to win first prize for my tomatoes at the State Fair!
I want to figure out how to love what I do for a living again or be brave enough to change what I do.
Make more of my own clothing! We already try really hard to eat whole foods and I’d love to green up the rest of our lives as well.
This year I want to finish my daughter’s first year scrapbook so I’m ready to go start my son’s when he arrives in August!
My goal is to spend more time outside with my five year old and seven year old–I want them each to end up with a special place where they are best friends with the bugs and the dirt and the plants.
Exercise. And eat more fruits and veggies.
I made a similar list on January 1st- not ‘resolutions’, but goals that I think will help bring balance to our very busy lives. Four kids+ many activities+ homeschooling+ whole food cooking+ trying to start a home business= crazy! And I don’t do crazy very well
As a new Momma, I really want to tap into my creative side and find the courage to change how I make a living for my family.
I’d like to remember to wear sunblock everyday.
My goal is to run a half-marathon with my sister-in-law in October. At some point, this will involve running.
Love the idea of whole living! I am a fairly “green” person but I would like to stop this unhealthy obsession with paper towels. Thanks for the motivation!
My goal is to finish the marathon I am doing on May 21st with no regrets. I want to leave it all on the course and know I did the best I could (no matter the time, no matter the weather conditions in north dakota). But because that goal is fast approaching, my next big goal is to start my writing–both blog and novel this summer. I am hoping that finishing the marathon will renew my self-confidence and belief in myself and thus, will be the jumping off point for my writing! Thanks for the give-away chance!
My goal is to find one thing every single day that makes me smile, pause and appreciate all the blessings in my life. I would also like to have at least one person I interact with realize that I have helped them to appreciate life a bit more, either through a smile, laugh or memory.
This year I would like to find a man, get married and buy a house. Using the process:
If you build it, they will come. Ha.
Cool! My goal will take a year and a half, but I want to finish my dissertation, while maintaining a decent work/life balance.
My goal is to finish at least one of my remodeling projects with my sanity intact. (Well, at least as much as I have going into it.)
Get rid of unused stuff taking up space!
First off – thanks to Design Mom for pointing me your direction.
Second – thanks to you for the chance to win! My goal has been the same as yours, a year of WHOLE living. Although I think I described it more to my hubby as wholy living. As in be there. Be present. Live simply. Enjoy what we have and don’t worry about what we don’t. Get back to the things that make us happy instead of those we feel we “have” to do. I look forward to following your adventure!
To persevere and find the solution to my health problem :-/ Not be overwhlemed, to continue to enjoy life the best that I can.
Thanks for the giveaway
I’d like to show my family this new place I live. It might sound like a small thing, but I live at the top of the US and they live at the bottom. And my sister-in-law has her baby due a week before they plan on coming.
Honestly, I’d share my magazines with a friend of mine. She loves drooling over magazines. I just love ripping them up for collage and ATC material. So she drools and then I rip and we’ve all been satisfied for a whole month.
My two big goals this year: learn to play the bass guitar and feel less guilty about taking cabs. Seriously, sometimes you just gotta take a cab.
I want to slow down this year and enjoy more time with my kids. I work full time, 9 1/2 hours per day, and with 3 kids at home, I sometimes get lost in the everyday routine. I want to sit outside and make play-doh food with my kids on a Tuesday night and bake a cake with my 7 year old on a Thursday…
one of my dreams is to go screen-less for a long period of time. they are everywhere!
My goal is to keep doing yoga – it makes me so happy, and helps keep me sane!
I want to make PIE! Lots and lots of pie. Who doesn’t smile and feel better about the world when pie is in the picture? Which helps to fulfill my goal of strengthening meaningful relationships with family and friends.
I’m gonna go rock climbing. And it’s going to be awesome. Also, I love the heck out of that photo of Mena!
thanks for the chance to win! my first visit to your site:) i want to keep my house cleaner – it’s the small things, right? adds to my peace of mind when things aren’t disasterously messy!
I am running a half marathon in Nov and would love to take up yoga this year!!
Have my own vegetable and flower garden.
Top of my list? Supper on the table, all 4 of sitting at said table, 4-6 nights a week. I have a little over 4 more years with my oldest son still at home, 7 with my youngest. Opportunities to connect are dwindling daily. But food? They do stop for food.
i want to write a cookbook for my son and daughter who will both be leaving home the end of this summer ….. leave a reply on a blog – check (just did that for the very first time)
Thank you for all the smiles you bring ……..
The main thing on my to do list this year: visit more farmers’ markets and use the local ingredients I buy there in my cooking. I’m always dreaming of the creations I would make. Thanks for a chance at the giveaway…just read the magazine for the first time last month and LOVE it.
This sounds GREAT! I made a similar list last year. Have you checked out MondoBeyondo for making your dreams come true? Great course.
(Oops. I posted, but not sure it worked.)
I’ll try again.
This sounds like a great list and a great magazine. I made a similar list last year. Have you checked out MondoBeyondo to make your dreams come true? It’s a great course.
I want to finish the first book in my children’s fantasy adventure series! (Goal: By September!)
I’d like to finally clean out the clutter in our lives! We just have too much stuff.
Oh please oh please may I launch this new photo and writing website/portfolio/blog-type-thing this year! That’s at the top of my list.
Excersize consistently and eat more fruits and vegetables.
New to the blog…fun stuff! Thanks for the opportunity to win; I’d never heard of this magazine before, but it would be right up my alley. My goal for the coming year is to bring our third child into the world healthy and ready for life and without complications (on my end). I want to do my best to help his (or her!) brothers to adjust happily to life with a new sibling. AND to grow my patience reserve for the time when little sleep, a newborn and twin two-year olds undoubtedly react.
I’d like to start exercising AND finally clean out my closet. If you saw it, you would understand.
I’d like to get my 3 kids’ rooms tidied up, organized and decorated quite a bit better than they currently are. I’ve been working toward that goal today actually, going through their toys and gathering huge piles of stuff for donation!
That’s beyond awesome. I love when the universe is tricky like that.
Having just crossed a big item off my life list (throw myself a wedding!), I’m moving onto something a little more modest and, fittingly, a little more Mena. I’m going to sew myself a dress!
I want to (successfully) grow a garden!
Fun Giveaway! I’m hoping to buy my first house this year!
So here
Who won?
