I love those seven words used together in that order.
Yesterday, I was going to grab lunch with three girlfriends at work–however because of a poorly scheduled phone interview that I poorly scheduled, I was having to meet them later than I would have liked. And I hate to keep a crunch roll waiting.
But as they were driving off, one rolled down a window, and asked these seven words.
I love that.
And I love it when it occurs to me how fortunate I am.
I’m thrilled to have coworkers who know exactly what my complicated order will be. I’m lucky to have a great sushi restaurant so close that I have visited so often with these people. And I’m just plain blessed to have friends with good memories who pay attention and care at the same time.
Because I’m fairly predictable. But it’s good to have people I can trust to do the predicting.
And it was lunch. But if it would have been just a few hours later, you can bet they’d be ordering me one of these bad boys…
Lemon Drop Martini
- 1 1/2 ounces vodka
- 1/2 ounce triple sec
- 1 teaspoon superfine sugar
- 3/4 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
Shake.
Pour in a superfine sugar rimmed glass.
Serve very cold.

It is good to have those friends and shared experiences. There was one time where I had a favorite cafe that would have my friends and my orders ready by the time we got to the front of the long, long line. There's something special about being regulars somewhere. We were so sad when they sold the place to new owners who changed all the good dishes!
