This makes me want to change my dining room into our office. We are losing our office when we convert it to another bedroom for our upcoming baby boy. We almost never use the table and room as a dining room. Its my first stop for mail and packages and my camera equipment…

I would love to give my opinion about the color, seeing how I am color-blind (yes, girls can be) I will leave the opinions to everyone else.But I will be interested in the final result!

I like #2 and #5. I personally prefer #5, but I think #2 may be a little more neutral which might be better for an empty room.

Ok, I love number 4 with some really cool white furniture in there and some pops of red. I like number 2 for the same reason but will be a bit lighter than number 4. You might even pick a cool gray blue like that but go 50% of the color as I tend to pick dark and wish I had gone lighter. I find the color I like and then go 50% with it. In the very least I can add one more coat at 100% if it is too light, but it is hard to go the other way. Fun! The cool gray will look fab with all of your white molding. Be sure to paint the ceiling 50% of your wall color to make your molding stand out!

Great suggestions, guys! I think I'm simultaneously more confused and more decided than ever. Which makes no sense, but I get it. The photos are pretty crappy here. So it's hard to totally get the feel of things, but I'm applying all your comments to the room… so thank you! And yes, the room is sort of mission control/center of everything. That's why I want it clean and open…symbolically if nothing else. Every room touches it in some way. It's a useless space and incredibly important at the same time. Your comments are all fantastic and appreciated. Thanks!

I would totally pick #5 for Tish. It's totally her. I would pick #2 or #4 for you and the Senor. Plus, I think it would be a cool transition from the front room. And it's the color of London sky.I love seeing everyone's opinion!In my mind, the room gets used as Ground Control.

Is #1 Sherwin Williams – Underseas? We're painting our kitchen that color – or something close to it. So that's what I vote for!
