There’s been some talk on the street that “hip” or “cool” parents (you know, parents who feed their kids that darn-blasted trendy hummus or dress their little punks in something other than pastel ducky and bunny wear) deserve about 72 eye rolls and a good lashing. Maybe. But around here, we prefer spring rolls to eye rolls. So, I say if parents want their kids to wear smocked duckies and listen to classical music, fine. No problem. To each his own. But for me and my house, we wear the Roses.

So I don't even have kids….I'm just the Aunt of the Hurricane. But incase any of your readers live near Cambridge, MA,I thought I'd recommend "bird by bird" http://www.mybirdbybird.com/I live next door to it (I can kick its back door from my driveway), and they may charge lotsa $$ because inman square joints typically do, but they always have great, cute little kids clothes. They had a Ramones T-shirt in there the other day which made me swoon with cute-babyness…I'd of gotten it for the hurricane, but I have no money and he probably couldn't fit in it for another 2 years. Anyway, its next to a fun coffee shop and a great toy store–stella bella toys. (And a great bar if your kids are into that sorta thing).
I have a a few secret weapons for kids clothes but this going to be my first topic at Design Mom next week…. everyone will have to check over there on Monday….I love the music info…I am off to iTunes to buy some stuff…. You are the coolest.
Babies are so cute. I love my niece, the Hurricane, and many children. If I have places that I love to buy them things, I am keeping them to myself. I want to get the cool gift that no one else has ever seen.Is this a mom blog?! Am I totally late to the party that I am just realizing that?! There has been a lot of parenting talk these days. I like Neiman Marcus, Saks, Barneys Co-op, Z Gallerie, Whole Foods, and Zara. For me. The best part of being single is that I get to spend all of that lovely lucre on myself. Well, and all of those stores carry baby things, too. Wouldn't a Kooba diaper bag be awesome?! And I would love to see the cool nursery decorated in Z Gallerie. We need more peacock feathers and mock croc in children's decor.

I wish I knew you when my daughter was little. She wore (still does for church)smocked dresses because it was that or ho-wear. Swell Baby would have suited her. If you happen on a place that sells nice dresses or skirts for 6 yr olds let me know. She really hates the smocked (and really so do I).Not everyone can wear the product like you. I like it. You make the product look good.

It occured to me, as i read this, how rude it is when people ask D.I.N.K.s (dual income no kids) who have been married for a while why they don't yet have offspring yet. My usual answer is "I cant keep plants alive." and, as accurate as that may be, for all the person asking knows, we might have been trying desperatly for 7 years, or unable, or whatever. I'm retroactivly offended for at least the last 5 years worth of people asking.Do you think they make that threadless designer stuff in a men's xl?

Okay so I ordered Mary Had a Little Amp. I cant wait to get it and play it for the kids. They love to listen to their music and I was getting a little tired with Disney and Veggie Tales.

Mary Had a Little Amp sounds great. Even my Kidlet would like that. Since she is older now, she likes to remind me of that. (As she watches the Doodlebops!) Anyway, I downloaded Mother Goose Rocks from itunes. It has kid songs that sound very much like real songs. The Hokey Pokey is to the tune of a Santana song.
I love that sundress! That was my # 1 reason for wanting to have a girl. The cute sundresses. I think I scored five eyerolls and two lashes for that.
I bought Mary Had a Little Amp when I was pregnant. I first played it when my son was a month old and Hurricane Wilma hit and we were left without power for a week.Ah, good times.The CD rocks!

I've been a bit perplexed by the "parents who dress their kids in other-than-Garanimals" deserve an eye roll movement myself. Though I think those who take that view are also the ones who think pregnant mothers should wear the "Baby on Board" t-shirts with the arrow pointing down. Thanks for stopping by and inspiring me to post again. It had only been six weeks. I'm a busy guy. But if you can do it, I can do it.I was an early Stone Roses fan, but I sort of lost track of them. I was always thought the first track of their first cd ("I Wanna Be Adored") sort of captures what I'm all about. Also, I even ordered the "Mary Had a Little Amp" cd.
