Easter Ham

Hello to all my vegan friends. Look at the cute, totally alive pig. There’s nothing else to see here. Move along.

And now. For the rest of yous. Can’t we agree that nothing says ‘He has risen’ like a big slice of yummy ham? I’m sure we all have theories about this.

But the important thing is, ham is super easy to cook because in the modern world, you usually buy it already cooked. (Hooray for the modern world!) Then you just add a few things to it, and people think you’re amazing. Brilliant. Yay for ham!

Easter Ham

1 7-8 lb. fully cooked smoked ham shank
1 C. maple syrup
2 Tbs. cider vinegar
1 Tbs. prepared mustard
whole cloves

Combine syrup, vinegar and mustard. Place the ham, fat side up, on rack in shallow roasting pan. Pour about 1/2 C. of the mixie mixture over ham and bake, uncovered, in a preheated 325 degree oven for 1-1/2 hours. Baste it every 30 minutes with additional sauce. Remove the ham from the oven and score the humped part of it into diamond shapes. Insert a clove into each diamond. Bake the ham an additional 30 minutes. Let the ham rest 15 minutes before carving. The ham needs the rest before you eat it.

And then, enjoy! Mmm, good. Ham.
