I’m training for a 5K with the Couch to 5K program. Which is awesome. But I’m already behind. I have no idea how I’m going to do this, or why I’m doing this, however I’m pressing on. I think I need new shoes. That would help.
Harry and Hannah and Hailey spent their time at the auction selling lemonade to raise money for the Bastrop fire victims. They sold over $100 for kids right up the street. That’s a lot of lemonade. Well done, kids.
It’s been a tough day. 10 years since the unimaginable happened. This morning, as we watched the names called, I sobbed, and Harry and Hannah wanted to watch Phineas & Ferb. We explained that no, they couldn’t watch that because we were watching something important. And I explained why today was important, and what happened, [...]
So this happened. It was interesting. And exhausting. I’d never been to a auction before…much less been the clerk of an auction. It was definitely a learning experience. We had about 100 people out. Have you been to an auction? There’s so interesting. Some things went for waaay more than I expected them to (a [...]
So I’ve spent the last five days in those five barns. Five days with 10 other people who are smart and strong and know what they’re doing. These people run an auction company that is leading the charge. I’m mainly trying to stay out of their way and do what they say. And, as it [...]
I’m spending all of my time out in these parade float barns, in the heat, with no air conditioning. I feel like this guy. My face looks equally as awesome. However, he smells way better than I do. Also, he’s skinner. Jerk.
This morning, I woke up to find this in my yard. As a result of the Central Texas fires, the drought, and the general Old Testamenteque vibe around here, we are being overtaken by animals. Foxes, possums, racoons, skunks…and allegedly, snakes. They’re thirsty, they’re hungry, and they’re everywhere. So here’s the thing. 1.) I’m a [...]
Even though I’m 40, I still think in school years. And today is the official start. Of course we began short get-used-to-school days two weeks ago, but Harry starts full days of Kindergarten today…and so he woke up at 5:30 a.m., ready to go. I’m ready to go too. Ready to get to work. So [...]
It’s Labor Day, and I’m feeling optimistic. To me, this weekend always marks the end of something, or the start of something. Not necessarily good, or bad, just different. And even though the season doesn’t change until later on this month, Labor Day always feels like the last day of summer to me. This summer [...]
I’m going to be spending a lot of time in the barns this week. All five of them. Cleaning, sorting, sweating. Because it’s auction week. I’m sad. And I’m relieved. And it’s going to be a long week.
