A Party, Some Conversation, and a Gift.

While I was reading the entire Internet last night, I discovered that it is National Delurking Week. A week when all people everywhere comment on blogs.

Not so into commenting on blogs?

Believe me, I understand. It’s a slippery slope. But to help you help celebrate this incredibly important holiday (I think it’s right up there with Talk Like a Pirate Day, which is HUGE around here), I’ve come up with some ideas for you. Plus, you could totally win something. (Keep reading.)

Don’t know what to say?

Do what Sweetney suggested. Reveal the best movie you saw in 2006. Or the best book you read. Or the best music you purchased. Or the best grand scheme you plotted. Or something.

Or, here’s another idea. The other day, Kim asked me to share six weird things about myself. I said, okay. Here’s my list.

Six weird things about me.
1. When I was little, I thought there was a good chance I could grow up to be a Martian.
2. I often concoct random and inaccurate stories to answer personal questions asked by strangers on planes.
3. Cats completely freak me out.
4. Frozen food sections at grocery stores make me sneeze.
5. I literally cannot say no to any kid selling something. So I sometimes do crazy things to avoid Girl Scouts.
6. I know the words to Elvis songs that I didn’t know existed (as proven by a stint in the ICU, when I was knocked out, borderline unconscious, yet singing the correct lyrics to random Elvis songs.) (My first concert: Elvis. I was 4.)

So, there you go. And by all means, feel free to share your favorite weird thing(s) about yourself. I mean if you can’t tell us, well then, who is it that cares? Really.

Still not interested?

Well, I just realized, I’ve been Quesoing now for six months. A six month celebration of cheese. And to thank you for lurking, reading, commenting, telling your friends and quesoing right along with me, I give you the chance to win some Darlybird.

Just comment with a name, any name, it doesn’t even have to be your own name, and the Hurricane will pick a random winner to win this dandy Stationery Folio from Darlybird. Celebrating six months of the writing, the comments, the smorgasbord, and the party that is the Queso.

Cheers.

I grew up with Super Zoe so we did a lot of weird things together. The most fun was probably making audio tape recordings of our Variety Show…complete with interviews, songs, commercials, dramatic readings, cooking segments, game shows and wrestling. Wait a minute know that I write that all out, that is actually pretty clever for 7 and 9 year olds…"way to go SZ"

  2. Lisa from WY says:

Am I too late??? I love Darlybird.

  3. Gretchen says:

I found my way here from the high praise of your blog over on Ignore the Crazy. I've been trying to lure some lurkers out on my blog this week, too. And I totally know what you mean about avoiding the girl scouts. My kids: "Why are we going in the door that farther away, mommy?" Me: "Shhhhh! Just come quickly!"

  4. ikkinlala says:

Another delurker. Congrats on six months of blogging!

Here's a weird (I was just trying to decide if weird was the right word, and it is infact the very right word) tidbit about me….(and my cousins and brother)When we were litte we used to try and play outside as late as possible. Our favourite game (if it was dark outside) was to pretend the street lamp (that was actually just a street lamp in my aunts yard – I'm not entirely sure on why it was there) turned us into Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The orange light made our skin appear green and we thought it was the neatest thing ever, and I'm sure were convinced if we stayed green long enough we might actual mutate into said TMNT.Sadly, here I am, not a Ninja Turtle at all.

  6. Jenny Dagle says:

Happy six months blogging! Hmm, I think everything is weird about me. How about this? Babies with tons of hair freak me out. Probably because I was completely bald as a baby.

  7. Lisa says:

Delurking. . . so liberating, eh?My husband can turn off street lights with his mind. MY wierd thing is I BELIEVE HIM.Yeah Darlybird!

  8. Jenny says:

Congratulations on your Six Months of Queso!

  9. citymama1 says:

Love the blog. (This is my first time here.) Something strange about me: I can pick up anything with my toes. The husband calls them monkey toes. Seriously, I could probably loose both my arms and be just fine….I hope I don't, though. P.S. Would you mind if I added a link to your blog on my blog?

  10. Anne K. says:

An oddity about me is every time I'm in New York staying with my sister for a period of time, something catastrophic happens. (except for 9/11) I was there for the power outage, I was there when there was a hurricane in Salt Lake City, I was there when John F. Kennedy Jr. died. I try not to stay longer than a two weeks, when I do something bad happens. Enjoy the day!

  11. JoJo says:

O.k. random commenting here.hmmmmmmmm. I am British living in Phoenix AZ but not really totally British. Kind of confused about that one.Take care

  12. Jennifer says:

I started in with random commenting here some time ago, and I can't, right now, think of one single movie I saw in 2006 (though I did purchase and nearly wear out Sarah McLachlan's Christmas CD), but mostly…there are prizes?! Hello from me! :) – Jennifer (Faking It)

  13. luckyzmom says:

    Holy moley!

  14. Jennifer (mom of four) says:

I love that stationery!!! It is beautiful. What a fun contest.

  15. Sabrina says:

In the spirit of de-lurking, I'm doing so. Hopped on over from MamaDrama because I have love your Blog name. I live in Ireland now and getting good queso is, um, impossible. My weird thing: I was that kid in Sunday school who was adamant that Jesus had siblings. I'm an only child and hated it, and I was sure since Jesus was God and all, then he'd invent himself some siblings or something. This did not go over well in the Roman Catholic Church. Keep on keeping on. . .

  16. ~j. says:

That stationery folio is, without question, my favorite thing on Darlybird's website. Is that a weird of mine?I usually love anything con queso (y sin pico since I'm nursing a baby), but as of late I have a lactose…thing, so I need to take the tablets. De-lurking: I've read you before, but I don't think I've commented. Hi. I'm ~j., and I read blogs at 5:something in the a.m.. I can hear a train right now, and a huge snowstorm rolled in yesterday. My kids love to play Disney Bingo, and I'm wearing really soft socks. There. Now we're best friends.

  17. Kara says:

    That is dandy!

  18. Dana says:

De-lurking way late and obviously missing out on the prize. So now you know I'm commenting for comments sake. :-) I found your blog through Jennifer's (Faking It) and thought on this special week, I'd finally make myself known.

  19. LaLa says:

Wow. Look at all your comments. I missed the competition :(

  20. Girl con Queso says:

Thanks to all for delurking and celebrating the cheese! And congrats to Lisa V. Clark!

  21. Jenny, the Bloggess says:

Holy Vageena! 71 comments?! You rock! And to think, I'll always be able to say I knew you when.
