One-sided Conversation at the Soccer Game

GcQ: I’m pretty sure the field is slanted because they were at the other end the whole first half and now they’ve switched and they’re still down there. They need to come down here. The guy behind us sounds like Shrek. Don’t you think? Can you hear him? I can’t see. Who’s that guy? Is that David Beckham? I think it’s David Beckham. Why don’t I come with you more often? This is great! I’ve got to get an orange shirt to wear to these games. Why does the same team have three different bands in different parts of the stadium? It’s like listening to three different radio stations at the same time. It’s hurting my brain. Do you think they sell wine here? Oh, look at the player guy’s headband. I love it. I’ve been looking for a little headband like that, and I can’t find one anywhere. If I meet him, I’m going to ask him where he got his headband. How old are these guys? Where do you think they live? Do you think they have wives or girlfriends or boyfriends? When do you think they started playing? Do you think they sometimes want to play baseball or something? I wonder if they blog. They should totally blog about playing and traveling. Do you think they twitter? I’m loving the chanting. I wish I knew what they were saying. I think I want to chant. What is that? Where is the coach? Who’s in charge? What the...oh. Wait. You’re never bringing me to one of these games again are you?

HcQ: No.

I love you so, but I am not sure I could go to a soccer game with you, either! Oh yes, but I could...we would have quite a time making up stories about the people in the stands whilst we mock their clothing.

DY-NA-MO! DY-NA-MO!

You're awesome. My husband would say the same thing... big fat N-O. There's so much else to do than just sit and watch.

When I went to my first (and only) astros game I was so excited about the giant margaritas on a stick and the food that I never really noticed the game.

Hilarious! But if GcQ won't take you again, I'll go with you. We'll get hotdogs and chant till we get distracted by something more interesting!
