Baby, I was Born to Walk

So I signed up for the Houston Marathon yesterday. To walk it. Because I figured if I ran it, I'd be walking it anyway, so why not just be purposeful about the walking from the start. I'm also just going to let you know now that I'm purposefully going to not be completing it in 2 hours and 11 minutes (and man, those guys who always win it are completely lucky I'm just walking this one out). However, I still need to start the training. So lucky for me Ryan Wright, the smart guest blogger on Design Mom, posted this excellent link to make your own Nikes. I've already designed about 18 pairs. And a few of them aren't pink.

I love your attitude. I'm running the St. George marathon but I'm afraid that while I plan on running I will inevitably end up walking, and I'm just going to be mad at myself for not being able to do it. You've got it all figured out.

One more thing. . .the TRIKS running skirt (www.skirtsport.com) is my favorite running necessity. I swear it makes me faster. Sorry for two comments!

Yay for you...I ran the Houston marathon (wow, it's been 12 years now). It is excellent in many ways: very flat, lots of spectators, bands, etc. The only neg is that the weather can be unpredictable i.e. cold, rainy, etc. Overall a fantastic experience. (oh, and I did my share of walking too)
One thing I suggest...wear a shirt with your name on it saying it is your first marathon...EVERYone will cheer for you and that really really helps.

I designed myself some Nike Shox for the Boston 3-Day: 60 miles, so I figured I deserved them. So much fun!

Yes, but the pink ones sound the best to me. :)

And now a marathon?! Seriously, I'm going back to bed and I've only been up for maybe an hour.

First - LOVED meeting you yesterday.

Second - how the hell long is it going to take you to walk 26 stupid miles?
