Expanding on the "overheard" series... I overheard this bit of goodness in my office only a few hours ago. "Hey. I just heard they’re building a new grain building over there."
"What? Like a silo?"
"No, like environmental."
"Green?"
"Yeah, grain."
Did I mention I work in Texas?

:D
That's most definetely how it's pronounced in my household!!!
I've never been to Texas. Everyone tells me I'm missing a lot! :)
OK, now I will tell you the story of the time my folks moved to Lubbock, Texas: my dad asked some locals how the "farmin'" around those parts was. He was met with blank stares until one of them finally offered, "Well, they built a new fahrhouse (firehouse) last year..."
Hey quit making fun of the President.
And speaking of Tejas, I'll be in the Lone Star State in a mere 10 days. I'll be sure to take lots of pictures.
Wow. Just wow. It took me too long to figure it out - I was thinking Grain Elevator. You wouldn't guess I live in Dakota, right?
When we first moved to Texas, my sister and I wondered why people always wanted tiles when they went to the pool. Our little Yankee brains finally decoded "towel."
I love the overheard! All eavesdroppers need good outlets!
Bones, you are coming to Texas?! If you come to Austin, you are welcome to use your camera to do a photojournalistic essay about me.
Your "little Yankee brains...."? Did you actually say that?
Bones, where are you visiting? Perhaps GcQ, SZ and us other Texans can offer some thoughts on things and places to see.
Hee!
Ha, ha! Can they say nuclear? Is it Green Bank in Houston? My husband is building that.
I'm headed to Lake Fork, halfway between Dallas and Shreveport. It's a dry county, so I have to bring an extra suitcase.
If there is anything to see there that I missed last time, please, for the love of all things holy, let me know.
SZ, can I photoshop my work in my usual way? Ugh. I just made photoshop into a verb. Shoot me.
Hmmmm, Lake Fork. Between Dallas and Shreveport, there's pretty much, well, Lake Fork. I got nothin'.
eavesdroppers unite!
