Diaper is a weird word.

If you think about it, the word diaper is weird. It’s right up there with ink, and shampoo, and Boise.

I don’t know why, but this word just hit me as odd. Maybe because diapers are a constant in my current life. And yes, it’s hard to believe that only 18 months ago, I’d never changed one. Especially considering the fact that since that famous virgin changing, I’ve changed approximately 2,750. Give or take.

You too would talk about anything you changed 2,750 times. Sheets. Plans. Minds. Whatever.

And speaking of minds, I’ve changed mine on the topic of Huggies Overnights. (You can read more about that at CScQ. Plus, we're totally giving diapers away. Free diapers! Free diapers! Yaaaaoooowwweeeeee!)

And speaking of words, what’s a word that’s weird to you? (And weird can also be good weird. For instance: bacteria is actually a kind-of pretty word for such and ugly thing. Really. Think about it.)

Also, and probably more importantly, if you haven't read Kim at After the Ball you really should. Because she's smart. And she's a socialist. So she hates awards. And so of course I nominated her for one...The Perfect Post Award for her Voice for All thoughts. I just loved them. Plus, in the post, she talks about the fact that she really doesn't like recognition...and the irony of all of it was just too tempting. Check it.

Hard to believe that two years ago, I hadn't changed a single diaper either. In fact the first one I changed was immediately after SwingDaddy left for the hospital in an ambulance, leaving me alone in our house, holding our five day old Q. Hmmm, maybe that should be the subject of a blog post sometime. I sincerely hope your first changing was less dramatic.

Moist..... I hate that word.

Diapers, diapers.... since I am doing double duty right now, lets just say that I am motivated to get Cubby potty trained....

P.S. I HATE Huggies, they always leak on me. ALways.

Ramona Quimby named her doll Chevrolet because it was such a pretty word. How I remember that 27 years after reading it, I have no clue.

My grandmother pronounces it "die-ah-per" and it makes me smile every time. :)

For me it would have to be the state Iowa - I cannot say it and when my job requires me to I just say the abbreviation.

I also hate the word "moist". (Weird!) It makes your mouth contort when you say it, almost in a way that makes it two syllables.

M O I S T. Blech I also hate the word lozange...

BTW... out of 9 comments, three of us have a form of the name Rebecca. Wow. That is strange. I haven't met that many Rebecca's in real life. Ever.

I couldn't agree more. Moist is the worst word in all the land. Period. And lozange. Also gross.

And yes, banister is weird. I'd never thought of that one.

Lady M, post it.

Sausage.

Cutlery.

And yep, I agree with moist and I don't like the word period.

Period here, is your period. Not a full stop.

And mirroring. We talk a lot about mirroring at work. Shame I can't say the word.

Hee.

Words are funny.

I like arugala (as a word, not the plant, sorry).

I loved that someone said "full stop". I lived in England for ages and always liked that term.

Gobsmacked. Now THAT is a word you can't help but love.

"Brouhaha," "hullabaloo," and "moxie" are favorites of mine. I've never liked the sound of the word "vagina."

I've lived in New York (Queens) and still freqeunt the place because of my job. I guess it's lost its magic for me, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading about all of your serendipitous adventures! I still love the place, if only because my best friend in the whole wide world lives there, and I get to visit her whenever I have to stay overnight.
